This is my old diary from Middle School.
I wrote in it on and off throughout 6th, 7th, and 8th grade (1990-1993). There was so much drama in it…except there really wasn’t any actual drama. It was dramatic for me at the time.
My diary is hilariously embarrassing…or embarrassingly hilarious, I’m not sure which one.
Lucky for all of you, I don’t get embarrassed.
And even luckier than that “Read an entry from an old diary” was one of Mama Kat’s vlog prompts this week. That’s right, I’m going to pour my 12 1/2 year old soul out to you.
Today I’m going to read “Friday March 20, 1992”.
This was during my “Kevi-Poo” stage.
(Email and feed readers click to watch video.)
Well, there you go. I was kind of a stalker.
I actually had a denim purse that one of my friends wrote this kid’s name all over. Unfortunately most of the ink has faded over the years. Sadness. (Click on the image to enlarge)
I have many more riveting entries like this one. They’re not all about Kevi-Poo, there are at least two other boys that play a major role in my diary. I could make an entire series out of it if anyone else actually cared.
Do you have an old diary from Middle School?
Did you have a crazy-stalker crush when you were younger?
What did you vlog about today?
Let me know in the comments!
If you’ve vlogged/blogged about your diary, I’d love to see it!
Be sure to stop by Mama Kat’s and check out the other vloggers!

YESSSSS! This seriously made my night. The perfect diary entry for sure.
Jenn says
I’m so glad! You’ll have sweet dreams now, little lady 😉 Honestly my diary is so full of that kind of junk that it was tough to pick an entry. I may have to do more vlogs!
kzemek says
You wrote long entries compared to mine. At one point, I had a 5-year diary (all filled up by the way) which only gave me a space to write 4 lines a day! I think that’s when I got in the habit of writing so small! Enjoyed your video, maybe I’ll link one up tomorrow.
Jenn says
That was one of my shorter entries, I have some that went on for 10 pages! Wow, I couldn’t imagine only have 4 lines a day…I’m so long-winded!
Thanks for watching 🙂
Robin Jingjit says
Oh my goodness this is so funny. It could have been my very own, right down to the “sorry so sloppy!” If only i had known about longer letter later, I would have used that, too.
I would go through paranoid fits where I would rip up my diary pages and dispose of them in different garbage cans around the house/flush some pieces. My secrets could not fall into the wrong hands. Like my mom.
Jenn says
How did you not know Longer Letter Later?! I feel for you 😉
That’s hilarious! My mom read my diary too, but that didn’t stop me 😉 I’m kind of a hoarder so I have a ridiculous amount of crap from my childhood. Actually my mom was always the one throwing stuff out 🙁
Thanks so much for commenting!
happysuz says
OMG! I was transported back about ?? Years! Hilarious! The dramatic music really made it for me.
Jenn says
Thank you 🙂 After I recorded it I KNEW that I had to add some music on there. Really, the original isn’t nearly as funny without it 😉
wombatcentral says
Hilarious, and SO well acted out. Giggled at your LLL, SSS and TLF. Used all of those in my notes to friends that we passed in study hall. Thanks for sharing a slice of your tender, dramatic life! ;D
Jenn says
Thank you so much for commenting! I’m glad someone else got the TLF (True Love Forever) reference. My husband was like, “What in the world is that satanic symbol?!” 😉
Becky says
You can’t make that stuff up! Lol! So funny. I don’t have any surviving middle school diaries. BUT…I do have a poem I wrote about my first creepy stalker crush. My mom actually found it and (lovingly?) saved it for me. I’m embarrassed knowing that *she* has read it, no way I’m going to share it with the world. Though that would be hilarious.
Jenn says
🙂 I love that your mom saved the poem! My mom throws everything away! We kids were shocked she kept my sister and I for so long 😉
Maybe I should start a series where I can “anonymously” read letters and diaries for other people that don’t want to make them public. Hmmmm…
Ginny Marie says
The first boy I dated was named…Kevin! I had such a crush on him! My middle school diary is buried in the basement, and I didn’t have the energy to go dig it out. Your entry was very similar to what I wrote!
Jenn says
So glad to hear that many Kevins were stalked 😉 Well, I never did get Kevin to “love me”. And my Kevin phase was short-lived. But my 9th grade boyfriend, I crushed on him until we were seniors 😉
Jen says
Oh, I can so relate. Middle school love was so dramatic but fabulous. *sigh*
Freaking awesome vlog, Lady.
Jenn says
Thanks, Jen! I loved yours too 🙂 When it was over I kinda wanted to go find that skank Mandy and tell her what’s up 😉
Tamara Vellozzo (@dgmommyblogger) says
I totally had a stalker crush! Those were fun, though, weren’t they? All that drama and heart-pounding. You so nailed the feelings of every 12 (to 16) year old girl!!!
Jenn says
I’m so glad that I wasn’t the only crazy-stalker. And that was not the only boy that I crazy-stalked. I’m so glad to hear that I was “normal” 😉
Jenny says
LOL this was the best diary video. I love the part “Don’t tell his girlfriend”. Sounds like many of my entries in jr high. I think I burned that diary though 😉
Side note: what video editor do you use. I loved the intro.
Jenn says
Thanks, Jenny! I don’t who I thought was going to read my diary, but apparently I couldn’t trust my secrets with them 😉
I used http://www.animoto.com for the intro/exit video. It’s free to create and to share, BUT to download you have to pay. It’s $30 a year, but I’m vlogging a lot now, so I think it’s worth it 😉 I just stuck the animoto video at the beginning and ending of my other video in Windows Movie Maker. I’m really fancy 😉
Jenny says
Thank you, I will have to check it out. My videos are so blah 😉
Jenn says
If you don’t mind paying the money their videos are really awesome and easy to make!
They’re not blah. I’ve watched several of them, but I never know what to comment because they seem to always be about makeup…and I don’t wear makeup. So, I’m just like, “um…” haha 🙂
Jenny says
LOL I never know what to vlog about and I have a lot of new makeup so it always ends up that way. Today’s was about food. I was late vlogging for mamakats prompt 🙂
Angela@JumpingWithMyFingersCrossed says
Loooooove this so. damn. much. Just laughed out loud. Seriously fabulous. Thank you for sharing your diary entry. I think have diary entries like that somewhere. I know I felt this way so many times (from middle school to college, waaaa, embarrasing). Thanks for making me laugh, such a fun vlog.
Jenn says
🙂 You’re welcome! I can’t believe that I acted/felt that way at one point, but it at least it’s funny 😉 I actually have maaaaany more entries like this. I’m considering doing a series, but I think I really might start to come off as a stalker 😉
Ashley says
Ahahahahah! I loved this vlog. I wrote in my diaries just like that. Intro to ending lmao. When i moved I found a lot of my old journals and I can relate to how “dramatic” life was. Everything was the end of the world. I think I even have tear drops smearing some of my entries lol. Reading back on it all I could do was laugh. I sadly threw all of mine away after reading it one last time out of pure shame and embarrassment. Plus it’s stuff I’ll take to the grave lol. Thanks for sharing!
Jenn says
Oh, my, I love the tear drops! Somewhere amidst my memorabilia I have a paper that I wrote “I do not go with _____ anymore!” 100 times on it when my 9th grade boyfriend broke up with me. Pretty sure that one has tear stains on it 😉
I can’t believe the amount of people that are telling me they purposely got rid of their diaries. When I read mine I’m sooo disappointed that I didn’t write more, especially during high school when I didn’t write at all 🙁
I’m a super sentimental and nostalgic person so (aside from real life people) losing my photos/videos and other memorabilia to some sort of disaster is a big fear of mine. That’s why I’ve begun slowly transferring things digitally and backing them up on hard drives and discs!
Christine at More Than Mommies says
This is priceless Jenn! I would definitely love to hear more entries. And I’m going to dig out my old “journals” –that’s what I called them…so much more “journal-ish” that saying Dear Diary… My favorite entry–and the one that I remember off the top of my head is when I wrote about the day that I saw semi-popular J.M. pick his nose…AND eat it!!! We were in middle school…oh how the mighty fell that day. At least in my journal. HAHHAHAHAHA.
Jenn Rian says
Christine that is hilarious! And disgusting! That reminds me of the episode of The Nanny when she sees her therapist pick his nose and loses all respect for him.
I’ll definitely need to record more entries. My diary is so boring yet hysterical at the same time 😉
Sarah Day says
I hate to say it but I think we were probably all middle-school stalkers. Oh, well – I’m OK with it.
Jenn Rian says
Us girls, anyway. My husband says that boys don’t do this. Or at least they didn’t write it down.
This isn’t the only boy that I “stalked” either 😉
Mamapotamus says
I’m seriously having trouble containing my delight! This was so perfect!
Jenn Rian says
I’m thinking teenager you would’ve hated middle school me 😉
The Vanilla Housewife says
LMAO You brought me right back to high school! I was so inlove with this guy that I wrote poems and stories for him (which I never sent of course). Crazy times huh? And you still have your diary! I threw mine away a long time ago.
Jenn Rian says
A lot of people were saying they threw theirs away…I just can’t even fathom that! Then again, I’m a borderline hoarder. You would’ve believe the weird things that I’ve saved over the years!
aimee (@HouseofFaucis) says
Hee Hee I remember calling people I did not like, butt hole… now I get to use much harsher names 😉
strljmnz says
I didn’t really journal but now I wish I had! Thank you for sharing!
Dawn Marie says
Ohhh my word!! This was so funny! My favorite part is actually your purse! I think my sister had that purse! I had forgotten all about those! Oh goodness, i wish I could find an old journal! I may have one in my cedar chest, but nobody wants to hear about that on a DIY-ish blog.
Thank you so much for sharing this!!!!
The Dose of Reality says
I am genuinely feel sad now that I did not save my diary from back in the day, because this is just SO AWESOME!! Came from the SITS share thread on FB and so glad I did!-Ashley
